Domain: Eukaryote Kingdom: Plantae Hailey Molaski Misty Benes
2
Reproductive Mechanism Sexual- The stamen produces pollen, the pollen comes in contact with the stigma (tip of pistil) and it moves down to the ovary. – Called pollination Asexual- stems arch over and take root at their tips to form new plants, mitosis along leaf sides creates tiny plants that fall off into a new plant, separation of parts from the original plant
3
Cell Info Mostly multicellular Cell wall of cellulose
4
Subgroups of Plantae: Gymnosperms – Cone bearing plants – Needle like leaves – Mostly in Northern Hemisphere forests and Southern Hemisphere tropics Angiosperm – Produce seeds for reproduction – Common in smaller plants, flowering plants, and trees
5
Feeding Mechanism of Plantae: Autotrophs! – They get their energy from the sun and atmospheric gases and create their own food. Photosynthesis Vascular tissues are used to transport water and nutrients throughout the plant.
6
Plantae Characteristics: Cell walls of cellulose Chloroplasts No locomotion Composed of root stem, and leaf
7
Examples of Plantae: Mosses Ferns Conifers Flowering plants Trees
