15 What is a Green Application?
But what is a green app? What is a Green Application? An “Application", is a computer software designed to help the user to perform singular or multiple related specific tasks. It can be used on one or multiple devices. “Green” is a term used for a behavior or activity towards environmental protection and care. Reflects a positive attitude for efficient management of resources. A ”Green App", is an app designed to help the user to perform different tasks towards environmental protection and efficient use of resources.

16 Green applications for citizens
We have defined 5 types of green applications: 1) GREEN INFORMATION & ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION: Apps with general environmental information. i.e location of natural parks or eco-lodges, recycling sites, green or eco-advices. Apps to asess the environmental footprint of my activities: like CO2 I produce daily, eco-calculators. 2) RESPONSIBLE GREEN MANAGEMENT: Apps to manage resources & improve efficiency: like turn off or on home electronics, appliances, sustainable mobility applications, etc 3) CLIMATE INFORMATION FOR DECISION MAKING: Apps with real-time display of environmental conditions or disasters for decision-making. Also weather conditions. 4) GREEN PRODUCTS PURCHASE (BUY GREEN): Apps that allow access to stores information on where to buy green products 5) GREEN GAMES: Apps with eco-games allowing interaction with the user.

17 Examples of Green applications for citizens
Eco-Calculators & green advices Green games Weather monitoring Eco- stores Energy Efficiency & Mobility

18 Roadmap of Green Applications in cities..
Green information & education Green routes apps. Smart Metering apps Smart Connected Cities & users 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 Basic green advices Apps with climate information Apps to assess environmental footprint Apps to manage resouces Users will demand green solutions in the future Smart buildings, smart metering, climate monitoring require applications to enhance its use.
