Mystery disease By Garrett, Aaron, Jason, and Tyler.

2 Sum up A disease has broken out after the county fair
Symptoms: stomach cramps and severe diarrhea. Victims: children (5-19 yrs. old. One case of an elderly person.)

3 Session 1: the disease We Researched on the computer for possible answers to what the disease is. After that, we evaluated which disease matches the symptoms We found that e.coli was the disease causing the epidemic

4 E.coli Escherichia, also known as E.coli, is a disease that attacks the digestive system. E.coli is mostly found in children and elderly adults, and, if not treated, can be deadly. Some symptoms are stomach cramps, diarrhea (sometimes bloody), and a few cases of vomiting.

5 Prevention of E.coli E.coli can only be infected by the digestive tract, so: Wash your hands Avoid eating undercooked meat Make sure food and eating facility is sanitary Again, WASH YOUR HANDS, ALWAYS!!!

6 Session 2: disease source
We researched sources of E.coli on computer. We used Google and found a website to tell us its sources. We examined what the patients did at the fair All had contact with the cattle (goats, cows, horses, ect.) and everyone has to eat sometime. The mixing result of insufficient sanitation was E.coli.

7 Session 3: design This is the “redesign” of the county fair. Animals
Rides Entrance Commercial Building Food court Animals

8 Session 4B: recheck source
We investigated deeper into the source of the disease and discovered that 2 people had the disease that didn’t even think about the horses, and got sick. Further research showed that the 2nd source was actually the basket ball activity, caused by a victim who had contact with the cattle playing the game.

9 Session 5: the mystery runs deeper.
Susan thomson has passed away. We started working harder to narrow our sources. This session we had to: Find out everything about the thompson girl. Determine the warning signs, if any. Recheck victims to uncover similar complications. Get updated aerial maps.

10 Session5b: Susie’s death
Susie Thompson has passed away. Her symptoms were as the following: Dehydration, kidney failure, stomach cramps. severe blood and kidney problems occurred within 2 weeks after the onset of diarrhea. These problems caused kidney failure and poor Susie's death. This is the result of HUS, a matured form of E.coli and much more deadly. We concluded that it wasn’t the cattle but their manure.

11 Session5c: similar symptoms
Mr. McCoy had a related indication and will most likely, if not treated, HUS. It was concluded that no one else had similar symptoms. If the illness does not go away, then everyone will get similar symptoms to Susie and will be in danger of HUS, or worse, death. <Different!>

12 Session 6: sum up During this session, we checked and rechecked our sources, designs, and facts to show you the presentation you just saw. For a recap, the e.coli was spread from the farm animals via food. This was the beginning, and it got larger. Some infected civilians got HUS. One victim even died. But in the end, this epidemic was stopped, and the civilians of Jamestown became a little wiser.

13 The end Thus ends the epic mystery of jamestown. Thank you for watching! Information by google.
