Are WAN links to branch offices slow or congested? Do critical applications as SAP, Oracle, Siebel run slow in branch offices? Are you moving application servers out of the branch and centralizing them in the data center? Do you have widely distributed workgroup locations that share files on a regular basis? Do you have expensive, high-latency links such as satellite links? Do you have limited visibility into application performance and behavior on the WAN?

Databases and other transaction-processing applications where there's revenue tied to every transaction. Speed bulk data transfers include backups and disaster-recovery processes, both of which require moving a lot of data in a hurry. WAN bandwidth reduction. When links are overloaded and the cost of adding more WAN capacity is an issue.
