SEE YOURSELF LEADING THE WAY AS OTHERS ARE FOLLOWING……The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership By John C. Maxwell 2

1. The Law of the Lid: Leadership ability is the lid that determines a person’s level of effectiveness. 2. The lid is the ability to step out and take courage to leave one’s comfort zone to lead. 3. The less lower the individual’s ability to lead, the lower the lid on his or her potential. The higher the individual’s ability to lead, the higher the lid on his potential. Note: The lack of leadership ability – was the lid on the McDonald brothers’ effectiveness. 4

LAW OF INFLUENCELAW OF PROCESS 5

2. The Law of Influence: The ability to get others to follow you. To guide. If you can’t influence people, then they will not follow you. If people won’t follow, you are not an effective leader. 3. The Law of Process: Good leadership is a daily process that takes time. Daily development of leadership skills. If you want to be a good leader, you can do it. Everyone has the potential, it takes time it requires perseverance. It is a lifetime experience getting better each day. (Joe Frazier – Boxer practiced. and President Theodore Roosevelt – died in his sleep with a book underneath his pillow). Always willing to improve your skills. You must be committed to be a successful leader. 6

4. The Law of Navigation: The ability and willingness to navigate the course for your followers. To move or direct. Anyone can steer the Ship, but it takes a Leader to Chart the Course. Followers need leaders able to effectively navigate for them. It requires planning ahead and developing plan B, if things don’t go as planned. 8

5.The Law of Addition. This law encompasses how we develop others to advance. Adding other people for support. Teaching others how to be successful. This is achieved by serving others and adding value to their lives. Do you have a positive impact on the people you lead? 9

TRUST IS THE FOUNDATIONINTEGRITY IN LEADERSHIP The Law of Solid Ground. This is the integrity others have in you. Trust is the foundation of leadership. It is the glue that holds an organization together. You cannot repeatedly break trust with people and continue to influence them. (President Nixon and Clinton). 10

 7. The Law of Respect: People naturally follow leaders stronger than themselves. To show esteem, honor, adore, belief for some one, Respect begins with:  Natural Leadership Ability  Respect for Others  Courage  Success  Loyalty  Value Added to Others 11
