2. What is a Reference Check A Reference Check focuses on checking previous colleague’s opinions about an individual’s work performance. A Reference Check: Is not a Background Check which may include checking criminal records and other data verification. 3. Why Perform Reference Checks The primary reason for conducting a reference check is past work performance is one of the strongest predictors of future work performance. 4. Characteristics of a Good Reference Source When conducting reference checks, you want to speak with individuals who have been in a position to observe the Work Performance of the candidate.
