5 Tecnam Aircraft NTAS 2009 Time Is Now Aviation Daily Reported on 3/12/08: “U.S. airlines may have received a five-year reprieve from scrambling to find enough pilots because of the recent lifting of the Age 60 mandatory retirement rule, but the pilot shortage will soon catch up. The shortage may be more acute and imminent at the regional airline and instructor level, but it will creep up -- and quickly -- to major airlines, which need to start planning now and considering new programs, such as paying for training, to bring more pilots into the pool... The cost of flight training is exorbitant. It now costs $120,000 to $180,000 for a four-year flight education. Students cannot borrow that much, and government loans are limited to $25,000, says Levy. Students then face 10 to 15 years of paying back their loans, assuming they complete the program, and half of them do not.”

10 Tecnam Aircraft NTAS 2009 From 2008 FAA Forecast “Student pilots are important to general aviation and the aviation industry as a whole. In 2007, according to statistics compiled by the FAA’s Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center, the number of student pilots decreased by 0.6 percent. This is the third consecutive year of decline in this important pilot category. The industry has, over the past several years, maintained several industry-wide programs designed to attract new pilots to general aviation. The industry is trying to stimulate interest in flying, but the data suggest that more may need to be done.”

11 Tecnam Aircraft NTAS 2009 Times Are Changing “Toto, I have a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore.” Dorothy

12 Tecnam Aircraft NTAS 2009 Time For Change “Without change there is no innovation, creativity, or incentive for improvement. Those who initiate change will have a better opportunity to manage the change that is inevitable.” William Pollard
