Building energy use and emissions need to be reduced to help the Township reach its emission target – in the face of growth. BUT, improving energy performance increases builder capital costs = reduced profits

NRCan Service Organization has been contracted by the Township to provide an unprecedented level of support to builders, including: FREE initial consultation FREE plan evaluations (NRCan P file) Dedicated phone support Dedicated email support Fixed final testing rate (NRCan N file) Assistance with all in-market rebate applications CMHC program information for marketing Access to unique product costing tool Direct documentation submission to NRCan

Surveyed home buyers south of the Fraser River to learn attitudes and opinions on energy efficiency 90% said energy efficiency is important 80% would like to see an EnerGuide label on the homes they consider for purchase 77% said they’d be more likely to purchase a home knowing it has been rated as energy efficient 62% said they’d be willing to pay more for an energy efficient home Identified a disconnect between what consumers want and what Township builders think consumers want
