University of Applied Sciences for Social Work, Health Care and Education Sunday, 20 September 2015www.ash-berlin.eu Alice Salomon and our university of applied sciences  Alice Salomon was one of the first women to hold a doctoral degree.  The Prussian state awarded her its highest distinction in 1932.  As the daughter of Jewish parents, she was dismissed from all of her posts in 1933 and, in 1939, was forced into exile.  She died in New York in 1948.  The university of applied sciences has born her name since 1992.
