7-8 SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS OBJECTIVES: 1. TO FIND THE COST OF SCHEDULED CAR MAINTENANCE 2. TO FIND THE COST FOR CAR REPAIRS Example 1 p 280 Use Table 7.13 to determine which scheduled maintenance items have been performed. Oil change and lubrication were performed every 3000 miles, so they have both been performed 4 times Cost of parts = 4(17) = $68 Hours of labor = 4(0.2 + 0.3) = 4 (0.5) = 2 Costs of labor = 2(68) = $136 Total Costs= 68 + 136 = $204

7-8 SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS OBJECTIVES: 1. TO FIND THE COST OF SCHEDULED CAR MAINTENANCE 2. TO FIND THE COST FOR CAR REPAIRS Example 2 p 281 Once again, use Table 7.13 to determine which scheduled maintenance will be performed. According to Table 7.13, the maintenance to be performed are oil change, lubrication, fuel filter, air filter, and alignment. But the problem suggests that alignment will not be performed Cost of parts = 17 + 30 + 11 = $58 Hours of labor = 0.2 + 0.3 + 0.8 = 1.3 Sales Tax on the parts = 0.05(58) = $2.90 Costs of labor = 1.3(68) = $88.40 Total Costs = 58 + 2.90 + 88.40 = $149.30
