For her time and participation in this project, we dedicate many thanks to the kindness and guidance of Patricia Moriarity, Family Nurse Practitioner specializing in Women’s Health at UConn.
4
Twas in the merry month of May, In nineteen seventy-six, Chatty Patty became a nurse And the pain, she started to fix
5
Young Patty knew right away Where her purpose was a-hiding She found it there, under the bed- spring’s snare The truths of violation.
6
She started in penitentiaries, Of the saddest city places Patty saw too many children there With burdens behind their faces
7
Pat had three kids and worked her job and went to school for the while Took tests, exams, and nursed patients Helping all abused childs
8
Came to UConn in two-thousand six To start STD testing And many people shot her down She continued without resting
9
She got approval that she wished for and soon began her journey to prevent disease at this school and spread her knowledge to many
10
Many a girl, they came to her Entrusting her, with their secrets She was unwavering: did not judge. Their trust in her was the deepest.
11
And from Patty, we take this note: Not everyone’s an expert That no one knows what they’d do Unless the violence strikes you
12
And in your life, you’ll meet many souls. And everyone has a story There’s always time in your life, You can never stop learning. There’s always time in your life We can never stop learning
