CDL Information In order to get a CDL, this is the Rutherford County procedure (well, this is the procedure when I got mine). 1.Get a Medical Physical and have the Physician sign a DOT Med Card that they have in their office. Time: 1 Hour. DO NOT NEED A URINE TEST or major blood work. 2.Go to Central Office and fill out a 2C Form. They will need a copy of your medical card and drivers license. DO NOT TAKE A DAY OFF FOR THIS!!!! It may take a few days to get approval. 3.After you have studied, you can go to the Driver’s Testing Center for the 4 written test (General Knowledge, Air Brakes, Passenger and School Bus). BE SURE TO TAKE ALL THE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS IN THE HANDBOOK, INCLUDING BIRTH CERTIFICATE. Time 2 hours minimum. 4.After you have passed the written test, you need to schedule a road test. This may be done through the Drivers’ Testing Center or a third party. I used Dot Vaughn and Joyce Trail in Tullahoma. 931.728.0685 or 931.394.2338. Time 2-3 hours. 5.Finally, go back to the Drivers Testing Center with all papers including Birth Certificate. Send a photocopy of Drivers License to the Central Office Department of Transportation.
