11 Device Registration This process allows the user to associate a feature with a device Serial Number. The user will be guided through the Registration process with a series of dialogs. Devices do not need to be connected to the CPS PC during Registration. However, an Internet connection is required. REGISTRATION is done via the CPS, an EID must be entered into the CPS EID field as well as the radio serial number that will have the feature enabled on it. Note: Dealers need to be very careful when manually entering serial numbers. Entering an erroneous serial number will require a call to Customer Service so they can manually correct the issue Note: As stated the CPS will connect to Motorola and “register” the serial number. This registration ties the radio serial number to the feature and the EID. This is the only time in the process that the CPS needs to be connected to the internet. Motorola will have a record of this transaction that will be archived. Upon the ‘Registration Complete’ notification, the CPS will now contain a license key that is affiliated with the radio serial number. The feature will not be active until the dealer connects the radio and activates the feature. To clarify, the CPS will now be “loaded” with the ability to enable the feature on the MOTOTRBO device that is affiliated with the registered serial.
