8. So how do I paraphrase/summarize? Paraphrase  After reading a particular segment that you found significant, put the article aside and restate what the author’s point was in that section. What did he/she argue, decide, or prove?  Check how your version compares to the original and record the page number.  “Use quotation marks to identify any unique term or phraseology you have borrowed exactly from the source” (OWL).OWL Summarize  After reading the entire article, set your notes and the article aside. Ask yourself what the main idea(s) were  Try to write that main idea in your own words without referring back to the article or your notes.
