SPIN is a new and revolutionary tool for decision-makers and STI policy experts, developed by the Science Policy Programme of the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science in Latin America and the Caribbean. The SPIN concept is based on a recently designed methodology for the standardization and systematization of data in science, technology and innovation policies, and consists of a cluster of six databases coupled to innovative graphic and analytic tools. 4. Celebrating its sixty years, the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science in LAC seeks to consolidate its regional function as Clearing House for Science Policy Information. 6. SPIN went on line in September 2010. 630 active users, mainly in governments, at all levels (incl. Ministers). Each user enters 2 to 3 times a month, with a total of 1000 to 1500 monthly visits. 2 Gigabytes average monthly downloads. Overall top users are Argentina, Peru, Uruguay, USA and Venezuela.
