Morality – Gives direction to our response to God’s call Morality is the quality of our actions whereby they are right or wrong. Actions are morally right when they are in agreement with God’s law and will.  Jesus builds on the covenantal relationship between God and the people of Israel, revealed in a particular way in the Ten Commandments.  The first 3 commandments concern our relationship with God and the last seven concern our relationship with our neighbors.

Morality Jesus sums up the 10 Commandment in the Great Commandment – “You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest commandment of all. The second is, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” God’s kingdom is a place where justice, peace, and love reign. We can experience these things in heaven, but they do exist on earth wherever God’s will is being carried out. The Beatitudes reveal the way of living that characterizes God’s Kingdom.

Morality - All people are created with free will and self-centeredness. Through conversion, we turn back to God with all our heart, while turning away from selfishness and the isolation to which it leads. Created with free will, we choose how we will live. These choices affect our life on earth and our life hereafter. Conscience is the inner sense or power by which we judge an act to be right or wrong. It also helps us to make good moral choices. We develop our conscience by integrating into our thoughts, decisions and our very being what the law of God and the teaching of the Church tell us.

Morality – Moral Decision Making There are 3 elements in a moral decision – the object, the intention, and the circumstance. The Moral Decision Making Process- Reflect on the situation and various courses of action. Pray for the help of the Holy Spirit. Recall God’s law and the Church’s teachings. Consider the consequences of the choice. Seek advice when necessary. Remember that Jesus is with us and speak with him.

Morality – Dealing with temptation Sin – failure to choose the good as God sees it Venial sin - a less serious sin that distances us from God Mortal sin – a more serious sin that completely turns us away from God. There are three conditions that make a sin mortal: The action is grave or evil in itself We fully know the evil or bad we will be doing We commit the sin anyway.

Morality – Capital Sin Capital Sins are also referred to as the 7 Deadly Sins: 1.Pride 2.Envy 3.Greed 4.Gluttony 5.Lust 6.Anger 7.Sloth
