Integrating SPP Indicators into EPSS Plans

What are SPP Indicators?
20 specific data targets that the U.S. Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) has mandated that each state must assess and report in its Annual Performance Report (APR). The indicators represent key areas in which schools need to improve in order to increase student’s short-term and long-term achievements and outcomes. (Think of this as an IEP for the State.)

What is EPSS? The Educational Plan for Student Success is a long range strategic plan to promote student success and continuous school improvement. EPSS is a written guide for the district and schools. It gives a clear picture of where the district is today, set targets or milestones for the future and documents progress toward district/school goals.

SPP Indicator #1 – Graduation Rates

SPP Indicator #13 – Post Secondary Measurable Goals and Transition Services

SPP Indicator #2 – Drop Out Suggestions
State Target = .68% RRPS District Rate = .53%, Target Met GED Waiver must be signed by Superintendent Offer Alternative/Non-Traditional Education opportunities: Independence High School Rio Rancho Cyber Academy Crossroads for GE and SE (credit recovery, up to 2 courses during one semester) 2 teachers present, instructional seat time. Math, English, World History, Science Elective.

SPP Indicator #2 – Drop Out Suggestions - Continued
Offer Alternative/Non-Traditional Education opportunities: Summer School (credit recovery) Night school (credit recovery or to move ahead) Community Resources YDI/DRC (Youth Development, Inc and Day Reporting Center) for short and long term suspended students, RRPS provides 3 teachers for YDI/DRC. Applied Career Tech Center ( ): opportunities for career tech educational classes.

SPP Indicator #14 – Post School Outcomes Suggestions
RRPS District Rate = 98%, Target Met EOY Information gathered by Transition Specialists (TS): Get 2 contacts, not 1, of someone who will always know where the student can be found Have students sign up at or (signing up is free) Ask student who is their best friend TS - relationship building with student, still here to help 1 year out, TS will ask found students if they still keep up with any friends.
