NuPECC is supported by its Subscribing Institutions, Member Organisations of ESF involved in nuclear science research.

NuPECC recommends the full exploitation of the existing and competitive lepton, proton, stable-isotope and radioactive-ion beam facilities and instrumentation

NuPECC recommends that efforts should be undertaken to strengthen local theory groups in order to guarantee the theory development needed to address the challenges that exist or may arise from new experimental observations; important role for ECT*. 4. NuPECC recommends that efforts to increase literacy in nuclear science among the general public should be intensified.

FAIR: Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research SPIRAL 2: Système de Production dIons Radioactifs Accélérés en Ligne 2 Both are on ESFRI Roadmap. EURISOL: hope to get on next ESFRI list NuPECC is internationally active. It is invited: to be on OECD Global Science Forum, and IUPAP nuclear physics working groups. Exchange/contacts with NSAC (Future JSPS?)

27 April 2007; PESC, Copenhagen, Denmark 1717 NuPECC defined a network of Large-Scale Facilities (LSF) /Research Infrastructures (RI) and coordinated and endorsed the applications of the nuclear physics community within the 4 th, 5 th and 6 th Framework Programmes. The networks supported by EC: * FINA (Frontiers In Nuclear and Astrophysics) * FINUPHY (Frontiers In NUclear PHYsics) * * I3HP (I3 Hadron Physics) * * EURONS (I3 EUROpean Nuclear Structure) * Design studies: EURISOL & FAIR NuPECC is coordinating community plans for submissions to FP7. NuPECC is presently supporting submission of application of NuPNET (ERA-NET for Nuclear Physics); define roles!

27 April 2007; PESC, Copenhagen, Denmark 2121 The Goals of ECT* a) to arrange in-depth research on topical problems at the forefront of contemporary developments in theoretical nuclear physics, b) to foster interdisciplinary contacts between nuclear physics and neighbouring fields such as particle physics, astrophysics, condensed matter physics and the quantal physics of small systems, c) to encourage talented young physicists by arranging for them to participate in the activities of the ECT*, by organising training programmes and establishing networks of active young researchers, d) to strengthen the interaction between theoretical and experimental studies.
