3. The Iroquois History Before the USA was discovered, there were lots of people there. Before the USA was discovered, there were lots of people there. The most powerful in the Northeast was the Haudenosaunee, the people of the longhouses or the Iroquois. The most powerful in the Northeast was the Haudenosaunee, the people of the longhouses or the Iroquois. The Great Iroquois Leagues stretched from Eastern NY to Northeastern Ohio. 4. The Iroquois History  Traveled far West as the Mississippi River, as South as Tennessee.  Like all people, they took care of themselves and their families.  They fought wars when necessary and hoped for peace.

The Iroquois History  The Oneida were the people of the Standing Stone, a great rock in Oneida country.  Onondaga were the people of the Hills.  The League called the Keepers of the Council Fire.  Cayuga people were the Boat Landing, or the people of the Mucky land.  Seneca people were the people of the Great Hills.

The Iroquois History  In the 1700’s the Tuscarora nation, drove by settlers from lands in Carolinas, ask to join the League.  They were accepted, the British then called the League the Six Nations.  Peace treaties, and war, many tribes came under protection of the Iroquois.  One time there were more than 60 other tribes that joined the Great League.

7. What was the Iroquois Trail? ► The trail was a path contagious diseases that killed many people, in wars, treaties, victories, and defeats. ► The book is mostly about the Iroquois life before that. ► It is about what it used to be like to grow up in the most powerful Indians nations
