January 2002REGNET Status of work in WP 2.1 4 Actual status of WP 2.1 Data available [01/2002] Object & image descriptions [primary data partly mapped to domain-specific standards/meta data standards. Export out of existing systems or in fragment template] Digitised images Thematic texts in fragment templates [word format] Thematic structures [general framework available, needs additions, refinements and adjustments, partly prepared in xml-format] Missing: Samples for shop items, other information which could build the basis for the generation of new products (institutional profiles, events,...) Demos DSK Database (IMAC) Poster collection (AIT) Z39.50 Server (ICCS) Other needs?

January 2002REGNET Status of work in WP 2.1 5 Occured problems The most important problems in the past months Data formats: The envisaged data structure of the system. The minimal data set used within REGNET? The standards supported by the system? Tools for data input: Missing of tools & uncertainty about the use of the fragments (and the sense of such a conventional registration) Functionality of the system: Envisaged functionality regarding the upload possibilities, the hosting of digital images (and resulting technical requirements at the side of the content providers)

January 2002REGNET Status of work in WP 2.1 6 Open questions & white spots Input for the technical group meeting and general discussion Workplan & Milestones: Availability of tools to generate and registrate digitised content, data needed by which date? Production of content for selling purposes: No (clear) information about data structures, possibilities for the generation of product catalogues and registration of objects, linkage between objects - products - themes Thematic products: No tools for the input of thematic content: Thematic texts, linkage between texts & objects, input/generation of topic maps for navigation Context: Treatment of contextual information during navigation and search
7
January 2002REGNET Status of work in WP 2.1 7 Our workplan for the meeting Object description: Clarification of open questions regarding the data standards, tutorial for data input Working on themes: Finalising the structures and fragment lists for the different themes, division of labour for the next months (Who should write which fragments? ) Organisational issues: Decision about the quality control and publishing processes (document server) Reporting: Necessary inputs in order to finish IR 2.1 and to prepare D4!
