What is a Wiki? Meaning of the name: Wiki is Hawaiian for fast. A wiki is practically the simplest form of a database. A wiki is a website that allows the easy creation and editing of any number of interlinked web pages via a web browser using a text editor or simplified markup language (Wikitext). Wikis are typically powered by wiki software (Wikispaces) and are often used to create collaborative wiki websites. 3

Adding Pages 1.To add a page, click on the New Page in the left- hand menu. Formatting Text 7 1.Use the toolbar to format your text (bold, italicize, underline) 2.Click the button to change your texts color and style 3.Click on the arrow next to Normal to apply a heading to your text Note: If you are seeking to adjust the size of your text, use the button instead, as headings are used in table of contents. Tables 9 1.Click Table in the toolbar 2.Define size and click Insert Table 3.To add Rows/ Columns: Click in an adjacent row/column (temporarily highlighted in gray). Linking to Wiki Pages 10 1.Click Link in the toolbar 2.Type the Page Name As you start typing, Wikispaces will attempt to auto-complete your entry 3.Type the exact name of the page Green Check = Wiki page exists Warning Sign = Wiki page mistyped 4.Enter the Link Text you want to appear on the Wiki page itself 5.Click Add Link Pages TextTablesLinkingFilesImagesWidgetsTabs
