1 Summer 2015 GCSE Exams Year 11 Assembly

2 Your exam timetable Your final timetable shows the date, time, length, room and seat number of each of your exams Final timetables have been handed out today. You should bring your timetable with you to each of your exams as you will need to know your candidate number

3 Before the exam Exams start at 9.00am and 1.30pm You should aim to arrive in school at least 20 minutes before the start of the exam You must be in full school uniform – you are not permitted to wear your leavers hoodie during your exam If you feel unwell on the day of the exam please let Miss Plumbley or an invigilator know If you arrive late for the exam please report to reception Your timetable will show which room you are in and your seat number, seating plans are also displayed on the exam board in the foyer the day before the exam

4 Before the exam You may bring a bottle of water in to the exam hall/room, it must be in a clear bottle with no labels – it is your responsibility to ensure it does not spill over your paper You should bring the necessary basic equipment with you to each exam – black pen, HB pencil, ruler, eraser, compasses, protractor and calculator – these should be in a clear pencil case You should have everything you need to do your exam out of your bag and ready before you enter the exam hall/room

5 In the exam room Exam conditions apply from the time you enter the exam hall/room to the time you leave You must remain silent at all times and not attempt to communicate with other candidates You must go straight to your seat All bags, coats and hoodies must be left at the back of the exam hall/room You will not be permitted to leave until the end of the exam

6 In the exam room You must listen to the invigilator and do what you are asked to do – and tell the invigilator if you think something is wrong You must put up your hand to ask for assistance – but do not ask for an explanation of any of the questions as it will not be given You must write in black ink or black ballpoint pen You must not use correction fluids/pens, highlighters or gel pens You must not draw/doodle on your exam papers

7 In the exam room You must not talk to, communicate with or disturb others Mobile phones, notes, iPods etc. smart watches i.e Apple Watches will be collected by an invigilator as you enter the exam hall/room – if any of the above are found in your possession you could be disqualified from the exam You must not become involved in any unfair or dishonest practice or break the rules – you could be disqualified from all your subjects

8 At the end of the exam Make sure that your answer book is correctly filled in and any extra answer sheets are in the correct order and attached securely You must not leave the exam room until you are told to do so by the invigilator Make sure you take all of your equipment with you and leave anything that you have borrowed on the desk You must move away from the exam room quietly – there may still be other students working

9 Remember: You should be spending some of your free time during the week revising. During the weekend you should be spending some of your free time on Saturday and Sunday revising especially when you have an exam on the Monday morning. Try and relax and sleep well the night before the exam Eat a proper breakfast on the day of the exam – your brain needs the food to help you concentrate If you have any queries or concerns about your exams you can speak to either myself or any other member of staff in school and we will be happy to help
