Railway Recruitment Boards 1945.Earlier known as Railway Service Commission. 1986.RRBs brought under GMs’ Aims: I.To expedite recruitment process 2.To meet regional aspirations of people ORGANIZATION Chairman Member Secretary Assistant Secretary Recruitment done for some 80-100 categories: Revamping RRBs’ - change of staff Exam on same day all over India. One copy of answer sheet to be sent to Rail.Board

5 3.Screening of Casual Labour & Substitutes CL -are employees whose employment is seasonal, intermittent and sporadic. Engaged from local area Project labour. Open Line Payment of ELA Substitute Employed against cadre posts all CL/Substitutes regularized. Prob. of fresh intake.

6 4.Compassionate appointment (I)appointment given in Group C &D under powers of DRM and GM. (ii)Death or permanently crippled in course of duty due to accident. (iii)Death in harness. (iv)Medical de-categorization. (v)Missing for seven years. (vi)Job given to ward/widow / bread earner

7 5.Sports Quota (I)to promote sports players should be state level, national, international level players Quota cannot be carried forward. (ii) Recruitment Policy reviewed 70% by notification 30% by talent scouting. (iii) Group C -24,18 Group D-4 Divisions 3 Workshops

8 6.CULTURAL QUOTA To promote cultural and artistic activities on Rlys 4 persons per Railway per year either Group ‘C’ or ‘D’ 7.Scouts and Guides quota 2 persons per year- President’s gold medal

9 8.Physically Handicapped. Total intake = 3% of yearly vacancies 1% Blind 1% Deaf and Dumb 1% Orthopaedically handicapped Based on educational qualifications- intake in Grp.C&D Nominated categories- eg., office clerks, typists,stenos, peons, malis, water women, announcers, running room bearers etc.

13 The regular upper age limit for recruitment to posts where graduation is the minimum prescribed qualification is 30 years. A further relaxation of 3 years is currently available upto 3.8.2003. Authority: Railway Board’s letter No. E(NG)II/ 94/RR-1/29 dt. 23.11.2000.
