Highlights of 2012-2013 iPad launch in Pre-K, Kinder, and Gr. 4 WASC Accreditation- Mathematics focus this year

iPad Launch Pre-K and Kinder Many apps, particularly for English Language Learners Better engagement and activity

WASC Accreditation Visit March 2nd and 3rd ESL population- Focus on these learners Schoolwide Action Plan- Data to drive instruction Great resilience in the face of governance challenges. Teaching and learning has not been affected.

Mathematics Focus Mr. and Mrs. Stanley trained all staff this year. New Zealand Maths Assessments and instruction training across grade levels Inquiry-based and basic facts

Elementary next year Two Grade 2 classes; Two Grade 4 and Grade 5 Caps: 18 in Pre-K 20 in Kinder 24 in Grades 1-3 with teacher aides 20 in Grades 4-5 (Korean government limits 40 students in all grade levels Pre-K through 5.)

Student-Led Conferences All run by students Share their portfolios- digital and paper for Grades 4 and 5 Demonstrate to you their best work and some of what has been a challenge Twenty minutes long

Reading Challenge April 1st-30th Overall Reading Challenge purpose is: 1. To highlight reading as an important activity 2. To promote reading for pleasure 3. To expose students to different types of text genre Minute target per student, per class Schoolwide goal, regularly updated Elementary Sleepover on May 10th if everyone reaches the goal

Grade Five Exhibition Currently completing Actions : self-directed acts that make a difference to others Next students will prepare presentations and displays that explain the process and action results for communicating to a wider audience. Exhibition evening: Wednesday, April 17

Field Day An annual event in our elementary school calendar. This year, it will be a fun sports day where students will be in four houses working as a team. Activities include field events and tabloid sports in the afternoon.
