When you ask a question - use wait time When you ask an open ended question Wait 3 – 10 seconds before asking for a response Ignore the waving hands Ask random students to respond Or use think – pair – partner response

Research is showing that when you change your questioning style to include wait time That discipline improves Teachers and students ask better questions (requiring higher order thinking skills) Student academic achievemen t improves But it must be taught to become a HABIT
