Step 3: Get Organized O You should set up your notes the same way each time. O My recommendation of how to set up your notes is on the next slide. You may not remember what you were confused about by the next day in class.

Tips for Note Taking O Pause and rewind when you need a moment to finish writing or need to take time to understand the information O Skip a line (or a few) between new ideas O This will make your notes easier to read. Also, if you re-watch the video or learn any new information, you will have space to add some more notes O Abbreviate as needed O Make sure you will remember your abbreviations! O You may not need to write down all information, feel free to summarize. The most important thing is that you understand the information.
7
Tips for Note Taking O After viewing the video/PowerPoint, go back and re-read your notes O Do they make sense? Can you read your writing? Do you remember what your abbreviations mean? O Underline vocabulary terms O Note: You can use a different color to underline (or a highlighter) O Pull out the main ideas, key points, important people/dates O Write these at the end of your notes in the “Summary” section O Note: O An example of my notes from this lecture is on the following slides. Instead of writing the key information at the end of your notes, you can use a highlighter to set the information apart (like I did here).
