What does it mean to be a Title 1 School? The federal government has put the Elementary Secondary Education Act (ESEA) in place in an effort to level the playing field in order for all students to be successful.

Benefits of Being a Title I School Additional Federal Funding allows for: Additional Classroom Resources Math Instructional Lead Teacher Literacy Instructional Lead Teacher Two Resource Teachers for Math and Reading Technology Appropriations Parent Resource Room Parental Involvement Activities

Title 1 Budget Provides: 2 Title 1 teachers – Ms. R. Cooper & Ms. Ford Math Instructional Lead Teacher (MILT – Math Coach) – Ms. Erickson Literacy Instructional Lead Teacher (LILT – Literacy Coach) – Ms. Hodges Parent Involvement Paraprofessional – Ms. Worley

Title 1 Budget Provides: Books and materials for both students and teachers. Purchase of technology and other resources. 1% is used for Parent Involvement –Items in the Parent Resource Room that can be used at home. –Parent workshops –Translators for Family Nights

What is our Designation status? Under Georgia’s ESEA Flexibility Waiver, certain Title I schools are designated as Reward, Priority, Focus, or Alert schools. We have not been given a school designation this year, which means we are continuing to provide a quality education to all of our students.

CCRPI College and Career Ready Performance Index a comprehensive report card for all schools in Georgia. provides a score between 0-100 for each school that score measures how well the school is doing in preparing its students to be successful in college and/or a career.

What are Oakland Elementary‘s Parent Involvement Plan and School Compact?

What is the Title I Parent Involvement Plan? This is a plan that describes how OKE will provide opportunities to improve parent engagement to support student learning. Family Nights (Curriculum, Reading, Math, Multicultural, Science & Test Prep) Parent Resource Room Support Programs for Students Communication: newsletters, agendas, conferences, website, marquee, email, homework folders and special announcements.

Parental Involvement Plan Draft – Parent Involvement Plan was presented at the OKE Parent Input Meeting on August 15 th. The Revised Parent Involvement Plan is available tonight. All parents will receive a copy during the OWLS Conferences in September.

What is the Title 1 School Parent Compact? This describes how the students, parents, and school will WORK TOGETHER to do everything possible to ensure STUDENT ACADEMIC SUCCESS!

School Parent Compact Copies of the Revised School Parent Compact are available tonight. Revised compacts will be available to all parents at the OWLS Conferences in September. We are required to a have a signed Revised Parent Involvement Plan and School Parent Compact for EVERY student in the school. This will take place in September during OWLS Conferences.

How can parents give their input about the Parent Involvement Plan, School Parent Compact and Title 1 Budget? Input is welcome throughout the year by contacting April Worley, Parent Involvement Liaison Attend the Parent Input Meeting in May

What can I do to ensure success for my child? Check your child’s agenda each day. Communicate with your child’s teachers regularly. Be available to help your child with his/her homework. Read with your child at least 20 minutes a day Read all information that may come home from the school.

OKE Parent Survey 2014 Spring Results 680 surveys were sent home with each student 104 families responded Workshops requested: –Homework Strategies – September 23, 2014 –Reading/Writing – October 14, 2014 –Math – November 11, 2014 –Look for information on these workshops and others throughout the year.
