2010- 2013 AIG Plan In compliance with state guidelines, a new AIG plan was implemented to serve our AIG students in Cleveland County. Lisa McDowell Janet Tench Mrs. McDowell will be at Shelby Intermediate School on Monday and Tuesday all day. She will be at SIS on Wednesday afternoons. Area of Identification Students are placed in AIG according to their area of giftedness. Students are placed in AIG according to their area of giftedness. Services Needed AIG students have a Differentiated Education Plan (DEP) that dictates their area of service. Students identified in reading and math will be served five times a week for one hour each day. This will be during our WIN time. Students go out for what they need. Student Expectations Students are expected to attend AIG class at the assigned time. Students are expected to attend AIG class at the assigned time. Needs Determination Team A Needs Determination Team (NDT) for the upcoming school year has been created. A Needs Determination Team (NDT) for the upcoming school year has been created. The NDT will be responsible for looking at teacher referrals, student work samples, and testing information to make a recommendation for placement of new AIG students. Placement of Students Students are currently identified and placed in our AIG program based on their area of giftedness (reading and/or math). When Do AIG Classes Begin? We plan to start following our AIG schedule on Tuesday, September 3rd. This will allow time for all our programs to be ready to serve students. Testing for students that have been referred to the NDT will be in October after EOG scores have been received. Robotics We will have three teams for 2013-2014. The three teams have already been determined. Students have been to a Robotics Camp provided by the school last year in June. We have selected students based on a rubric used by the county. The schedule for the year has been completed with general dates for competitions.
