Repeated phrases (Run, run as fast as you can! You cant catch me, Im the Gingerbread Man!) –Ask questions Why do you think the character did that? What do you think is going to happen next? What would you do if you were that character?

Continued… Reading With Your Child When? –Make it part of the daily routine –Have fun! –Have teachable moments at home… see a snake outside… go find a book to learn more about poisonous and harmless snakes… look up info about snakes on the Internet…etc.

Writing With Your Child Model writing –Lists (groceries, to-do, chores, etc.) –Letters, notes, email –Scrapbooking, journaling, blogs, etc. –Story writing

Meaningful letters Beginning letters, long vowels, ending letters Example: WRITES i w t e s w me but MEANS I went to the store with Mommy. Words Invented Spelling- I wint to the stor weth mome. Traditional Spelling- I went to the store with Mommy.
