STUDENT PLANNERS Planners will be provided to every student Evert Monday, I will have the students copy their weekly Science classwork/homework into their planners Test/Project grades will also be written into the planners

ABSENCES Student’s responsibility to turn in an excuse to the homeroom teacher, and then to meet with each of their teachers to discuss their missing work Academic IOU’s- all missing work will be due 5 days after absence (per Dothan City Schools’ Code of Conduct)

BEHAVIOR PLAN Discipline Plan- First Offence- verbal warning Second Offence- silent lunch Third Offence- phone call to parents to discuss concerns Rewards for positive behavior- PAT Time- “Preferred Activity Time” (reading, board games, class activities, or time on iPad) for the last 10 minutes of Friday’s class Field Trips at the end of each 9-week period (last year we went to Six Flags in ATL) Cell Phone/iPad Misuse- First Offence- Cell Phone/iPad taken up by the classroom teacher for the class period Second Offence- Cell Phone/iPad taken up by the classroom teacher, and phone call to parents Third Offence- Cell Phone/iPad given to Mrs. Adams, and a parent will have to come by school to pick it up

SCIENCE OVERVIEW Earth Science- We begin by exploring the Earth's Surface (minerals, rocks, earthquakes, volcanoes, and plate tectonics) Next, we examine the Earth’s changing surface and waters (Erosion, fossils, fresh water systems, and ocean motion/zones) We conclude with a unit on Astronomy (Moon, Sun, Solar System, stars, and galaxies) Classwork/Homework- Daily lessons include small-group work which will incorporate hands-on projects and inquiry learning All homework is due at the beginning of the next class block (any work not turned in on time will result in a score of 0) Tests- All tests are taken on the students’ iPads through the software program, Edmodo Most tests/projects will be graded by Sunday (following the test) and posted in iNow You can view the entire test (once it has been graded) through your child’s Edmodo account (grades, questions, and answers)
