Name of Museum King Tut’s tomb is one of the most famous intact tomb ever found by archeologists. When people later on were carving Ramses VI’s tomb, debris fell from it and covered the tomb, making it hard to find. Howard Carter was the archeologist who found King Tut’s tomb. More than 5,000 artifacts were buried with King Tut, yet he had an unimportant reign. King Tut ruled form 1332 B.C.E. to 1322 B.C. He was 9 when he first became king, and died when he was 18. His original name was Tutankhaten, meaning the living image of Aten, but he changed it to Tutankhamun. He had many disorders including: foot defects, a broken leg, and a cleft palate. He also endured malaria, which may have been what killed him. He is buried in the Valley of the Kings, and has a small tomb with 3 coffins made of gold. The ancient Egyptians were an important and advanced civilization because of three examples of religion in King Tutankhamun’s tomb. Introduction Back to Room 1

Name of Museum King Tutankhamun’s tomb had at least three religious examples that proved Ancient Egypt was an important and advanced civilization. First there was embalming in King Tut’s tomb. Egyptians took out all the organs, cleaned the body, dried it with natron, and wrapped it in linen. Second, there were religious paintings on the walls in King Tut’s tomb. The paintings showed Osiris, (the god of the dead,) getting cut into pieces, and getting put back together by his sister, Isis, and the Egyptians want to be like him and live in the dead. Lastly there were religious hieroglyphics on the walls. The hieroglyphics were spells so King Tut could get to the right place, in the right form as Osiris, instead of Horus the god he is when he is alive. Clearly, three religious examples proved Ancient Egypt was a complex civilization. Body Paragraph Back to Room 2
