Absent Work Policy: It is the student’s responsibility to get the work they missed while they were absent. Students should check the calendar upon return and take all necessary handouts from the filing crate. If students miss a test or project, they must come in during a tutoring session to make it up. All work not made up, due to absences, will be recorded as a zero. District policy also stipulates that any assignments missed due to an unexcused absence will result in zeros. ReTakes/ReTest Policy: If a student makes below a 70 on a MAJOR grade, they have the opportunity to come in during one of my scheduled tutoring times for help on redoing or retaking the assignment. The higher of the two grades will be assigned, with the maximum possible score of 70. In order to receive re-assessment options, students must turn in major grade assignments by the actual due date. Cheating/Plagiarism: Evidence of cheating or plagiarism will not only result in a zero for the assignment, but will also result in disciplinary action. 8:15-8:40 AM: M, W, TH 4:00-4:15: T, W If I’m in my room…I’m available! If I’m in my room…I’m available! No appointments needed! *Please send students with a note/hall pass for AM tutoring. Novel Selections: Below is a list of the possible novels that may be read as a class this school year. If a novel that isn’t listed below is read as a whole class, I will post that update on my class website. Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick Number the Stars by Lois Lowry No More Dead Dogs by Gordon Kormon Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt Self-Sustained Reading (SSR): Students will read a minimum of 15 minutes in class every day. (Starts 2 nd week of class). Students must bring their own book with them to class every day. Acceptable: Electronic books on IPAD only (no cell phones), library book, class library, or brought from home. As a GRADE, Students will conference with me on what they are reading. Class Library: Although I do my very best to ensure all of my books are age appropriate, I have not read each of the books on my shelves. Students are checking these out at their own risk. It is expected that students will either bring a book from home or check one out from the school library. However, if a student comes to class without a book for the day, they will be asked to borrow a book from our class library. That means they are also responsible to replace or pay for any lost or damaged books. Tutoring:
