1. Buddhism changes The idea many people could become Buddha's through good works changed Buddhism from a religion that offered salvation to all and popular worship. The Buddhist divided into 2 sects. 2. Changes in Hinduism A trend toward monotheism developed. Began to devote themselves to Vishnu or Shiva. Became more personal and appealing

3 Expansion of Culture 3. The performing arts and literature flourished
Writing academies formed. Dance and Drama became popular. 4. Science and Mathematics ideas Spread Indians began to use a calendar based on cycles of the sun. Scientists proved the earth was round. Numerals and decimal systems were invented

4 Expansion of Trade and Commerce
5. The development of the Silk Roads and increased sea trade allowed for expansion of Indian Commerce Indian traders worked as middle men buying Chinese goods and selling them to traders traveling along the Silk Road to Rome. Trading stations along the route. Sea helped develop networks in Africa Arabia and China 6. Expansion of trade had lasting effects on Indian Trade Rise of banking in India. Indian merchants who moved abroad spread Indian culture
