Official High School Transcript COMPLETED APPLICATION! Follow up with each college to confirm your application is complete for review Application Bio, Activities, Essays, Fee, (components vary by college) SAT/ACT CollegeBoard.com ACTStudent.org test score optional? Application Processes Early Decision Binding Often November 1 or 15 deadline Some offer ED I & II Usually notified of decision within 6 weeks (Accept, Deny, Defer) ED Agreement often required - communicate with counselor Early Action NOT Binding Often November 1 or 15 deadline Usually can apply to more than 1 Usually notified within 6 weeks (Accept, Deny, Defer) Rolling When application is complete, if is reviewed and you are notified of a decision (Accept, Deny, On-Hold) Regular Decision Typically - January 1 or later deadline, with notification in mid-March to early April. (Accept, Deny, Waitlist)

College App Deadline Transcript Request Must be Submitted in Naviance by: October 15September 24 November 1October 12 November 15October 26 December 1November 6 January 1December 1 UDHS Transcript Request Deadlines Regardless of the college deadline, all transcript requests must be submitted in Naviance a minimum of 15 SCHOOL DAYS prior.

✓ Log on to Family Connection; go to the COLLEGES tab. ✓ List your colleges in “Colleges I’m Thinking About”. ✓ In your list, be aware of Delivery Type and Application Deadlines. (see next slide) Requesting Transcripts Through Naviance

✓ Click again on the COLLEGES tab. ✓ Click on the “Transcripts” link at the left under Resources Requesting Transcripts Through Naviance

✓ Use the “lookup” feature to find colleges for which you are requesting a transcript; type the name of the college or select from quicklist. (see next slide) Requesting Transcripts Through Naviance

✓ Go to “Colleges I’m Applying To” and review for accuracy. You are able to EDIT if you made an error, BUT you must notify your counselor if you make a change after requesting a transcript. Requesting Transcripts Through Naviance

If Common App: ✓ Student should have already created account on www.commonapp.org, listed at least 1 college in your Common App “My Colleges” list and completed the FERPA Waiver on Common App.www.commonapp.org ✓ In Naviance, go to Colleges tab > click “Colleges I’m Applying To”. In “Colleges I’m Applying To”: ✓ Enter your Common App e-mail address (i.e. the e-mail address you used when you created your Common App account) and Date of Birth and click the MATCH button. ✓ You MUST complete this step in order for your transcripts and recommendations to be sent to Common App colleges! If Other Electonic: ✓ no further action is required by the student. If Paper: ✓ Student provides Guidance with any required college forms and a 9”x12” envelope addressed to the college including three (3) first-class stamps. Non-Common App Colleges

Common Application If a college is indicated in Naviance as a Common App recipient, BUT the student chooses to use the college’s own application instead, you MUST notify your counselor in order for your materials to be sent in the appropriate format. ** See next slide for how to do this. EXCEPTIONS

UNKNOWN should NEVER be selected: either you are applying via the Common Application or you are not! Scroll down the page and click:

Penn State Schreyer Honors College A separate Transcript Request/Release Form is NOT required. When completing the online Schreyer’s application, students will provide e- mail addresses for counselor and teachers who will be submitting recommendations. EXCEPTIONS

STEP 1: Student verbally requests recommendation from teacher. Requesting Teacher Recommendations STEP 2: If teacher agrees, student enters recommendation request in Naviance. (see next slide)

In Naviance, go to Colleges tab > click “Colleges I’m Applying To” Requesting Teacher Recommendations

Scroll down to Teacher Recommendations and click “Add/Cancel Requests”. Requesting Teacher Recommendations

Select teacher from drop down menu (a personal note is optional, but a nice touch!). Scroll down and click “Update Requests”. Requesting Teacher Recommendations

STEP 3: Your recommendations will be sent after you submit Records Release to Guidance, request transcripts in Family Connection, and match your Naviance and Common App accounts (if needed).
