How much things value. Why people keep old things Some people like to own valuable things such as : vases , silverware, gold ….. Some people enjoy collecting stamps, coins , art, furniture, jewelry, toys and dolls.

My Secret Dan Stone is a sports writer. He loves his job

Nouns A noun is the name of a place, person , thing , idea……………..

Adjectives An adjective describes a noun . It gives more information about it. ( happy – sad – nice – valuable – afraid…) An adjective can end in : ( -al , -able, -ible ……) Educational – portable / valuable – possible

The Present Simple Tense

The Simple Present We use the present simple for everyday actions
or facts. I go to school everyday. (everyday actions) The sun shines everyday. ( Fact ) Form: We add “s “ to the verb when its subject is: He / She / It ( any singular noun ) Heba usually collects stamps

Most verbs take –s with he / she / it.
Ex. I work - He works Verbs ending in -ss, -sh, -ch, -x, –o (es) Discuss, wash, watch, mix, go, do Verbs ending in a constant +y drop –y and take (ies) I discuss - he discusses You watch - he watches We go she goes I fly – he flies I carry – She carries I try - The dog tries to run

The Simple Present If the subject is ( I / they / we or you )
we don’t add anything to the verb. They go to their village every summer. I like history books. You look worried. We have some work to do in the office.

The Simple Present Questions and the negative form
We use does / do + to form the question and negative form in the simple present. Yes / No questions: Do I / you / we / they eat ? Yes, I / you / we / they do . – No, I / you / we / they don’t Does she / he / it eat? Yes, she / he / it does. – No, she / he / it doesn’t. do not = don’t does not = doesn’t

The Present Simple Tense
There are two special verbs that have more complicated ending changes in the present tense: to have and to be Verb to be I am He / She / It is You / We / They are Verb to have I / You / We / They have He / She / It has

The Simple Present Wh questions: Where do you go on weekends?
Why does he go for a walk in the evening? When does she start her lesson in the morning? Who do you like to have as a friend? How does she go to her office?

What is a paragraph? A paragraph is a group of sentences that develops one main idea. The first sentence is the topic sentence. It has the main idea. The other sentences are supporting sentences . They make the main idea clearer. The last sentence is the concluding sentence. It sums up the main idea.

Rules for writing a paragraph:
Indent the first line My favourite hobby is reading.It is an interesting hobby. It provides me with a lot of information. I can spend nice hours reading a book about a famous character in the Arab history. I don’t feel bored when I have a book in my hand. This is way I think that reading is a very interesting hobby.

Topic sentence : My favorite hobby is reading
Topic sentence : My favorite hobby is reading. All of the other sentences are supporting sentences.

Read the paragraph and choose the best topic sentence: ____________________________. It is yellow and black. It has the number “11” on the back. I got it in school when I played football on the school team. Our team won every game. The shirt has a lot of value . I keep it because I like to remember my teammates. A- Football is my favorite sport. B- My school football shirt is very special to me. C- I was a good student in school.

Rules for writing a paragraph
1- Indent the first line. 2- There are two margins on your paper . Write your paragraph between the two margins. 3- When you write a paragraph, do not start each new sentence on a new line.
