Is God secure? Part 4 A study in Romans 6
2
“For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive”. 1 Cor 15:22 “If this is death then this is sweet” D.L. Moody on his death bed. “The most that I have ventured to say respecting myself is that I think it’s possible I may get to heaven.” Asahel Nettleton “ The Puritan Divines, almost to a man, had no or little assurance in the end”. GES conference quote “ Gentlemen I have been studying this grace for over half my life and I am just now beginning to grasp it”. Lewis Sperry Chafer 2 months before his death.
3
“To live is Christ to die is gain, gentlemen I believe this! Now open your Greek books”. Dr. Ron Sawyer to a class of Greek students at Moody, just after being informed he had 2 weeks to live. Understanding the grace of God is vital to living this life and finishing this life. Really when it comes down to it we are all cramming for finals aren’t we?
4
Rom 6:1Rom 6:1 WHAT shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Rom 6:2Rom 6:2 Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? (The point being made here, is not that we can never sin again but that sin can never rule over us again) (Eaton p.190 No Condemnation) Rom 6:9Rom 6:9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him.
5
If we are in Christ and Christ has been released from this realm of sin never to die again! Then we have been released, a death has taken place. This is not just some decision we made or some card we signed, a real death has taken place, we have died and we are hidden in Christ Jesus. Never to return to this realm of sin again!!!
6
The power of the Old man is dead, sin can’t get at us again, it can’t get at Jesus, it can’t get at us! -We are in Christ, therefore where is the sin that can condemn the Christian? -If sin can’t get at us, then how can it condemn us? -If we have died out of the realm of condemnation then how secure are we really?

Notice these words and phrases: 6:2 we died to sin 6:3 we were baptized into is death 6:4 We were buried with Him 6:5 Certainly 6:6 body of sin done away with 6:7 freed 6:8 live 6:9 no longer has dominium 6:10

Rom 6:3Rom 6:3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Rom 6:4Rom 6:4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Rom 6:5Rom 6:5 For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection,

Rom 6:6Rom 6:6 [knowing this], that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. Rom 6:7Rom 6:7 For he who has died has been freed from sin. Rom 6:8Rom 6:8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him,
10
Rom 6:9Rom 6:9 [knowing that] Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. Rom 6:10Rom 6:10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Next week, living out this truth. Rom 6:11-23
