3. 3 PHI THETA KAPPA Phi Theta Kappa is the official International Honor Society for two-year colleges. Incorporated in 1918, Phi Theta Kappa is now the largest honor society in American higher education. –It has more than 2 million members 1,200 chapters NOT a fraternity/sorority

4. 4 BETA IOTA RHO BETA IOTA RHO is the local chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Luzerne County Community College, chartered on December 12, 2000. –We have earned a 5-STAR chapter rating –We have been a TOP 100 chapter –We earned a HALLMARK AWARD for our HIAP –President Leary: SHIRLEY GORDON award –Dr. Housenick: PARAGON ADVISOR award

5. MEMBERSHIP

6. 6 REQUIREMENTS A student must: –have a GPA of 3.5 or better + –be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours at LCCC during Fall or Spring Semesters + –have completed 12 hours or more of transfer-level courses Membership is Invitation Only

7. 7 BENEFITS As members of Phi Theta Kappa, students receive: –Eligibility for scholarships including completion scholarships to assist finishing associate’s degree & many excellent transfer scholarships to four- year universities over $37 million each year
