Participatory Land Use Planning (PLUP) Achievements and Results  More than 60% of the villagers are participating in delineating boundaries and manage their land by using participatory methods (i.e. agriculture, forest, village settlement land etc.)  Land Use Planning and Village Forestry Management/Regulation are being implemented.  Maps on Forest Land Use have been prepared.  Guidance for provincial, district personnel involved in PLUP/LA at the village level has been provided Page 4

6. Participatory Land Use Planning (PLUP) Lessons learnt  There are insufficient staff available for implementing these activities. Each district should have at least 4 staff members to work on PLUP-LA.  Because so many activities are carried out at the same time, villagers get confused.  In each fiscal year before starting the process, PAFO should organize a review training course for the district team to improve knowledge, skill and experience. Participatory Land Use Planning (PLUP) Outlook  To find solutions to protect the villages/villagers and natural resources against illegal concessions and to secure land use rights, e.g. through land survey and land registration at the village level with certification from government (not household land registration). After 3 years, land titling with certification on family level could be possible. Page 7
