«1. Motor vehicle collisions are the number one cause of death by preventable injury for Canadian children between the ages of one and nine (Public Health Agency of Canada, 2008). 2. Misuse rates range from 44% to 81% for car seats, and 30% to 50% for booster seats (Canadian Paediatric Society, 2008). 3. According to the Canadian Paediatric Society (2008), when used correctly, child seats reduce the risk of fatal injury by 71% and risk of serious injury by 67%. Using a booster seat instead of just a seat belt alone is a reduction of 59% in injury risk.» (source:

Precautions! Buy in Canada
Illegal to use of a car seat purchased outside Canada, including online from non-Canadian vendors; May not comply with Canada’s Motor Vehicle Restraint Systems and Booster Seat Safety Regulations and the applicable Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (CMVSS); Would not carry the National Safety Mark. Check the expiry date indicated by the manufacturer. Check the manufacturer's specifications: your child's height and weight After an Accident: replace the car seat. Fill out the registration card and return it to the manufacturer. If the seat is recalled, the manufacturer will be able to contact you. Instructions: important! Follow all of the instructions provided by the car seat manufacturer; Check your vehicle owner's manual when installing the seat. Children 12 and under should stay in the back seat. When you buy child seat, you have to know these things for your child safety. It’s recommended to buy child seat or booster seat in Canada.

National Safety Mark «When purchasing a child seat for use in Canada, parents should look for the National Safety Mark label attached to the seat, indicating that the seat complies with Canadian regulations and standards, and is therefore legal for use in Canada.» «When shopping online for a child seat, please ensure that the vendor is offering a seat that is certified to Canadian standards and carries the National Safety Mark.»
