Trip Overview – Itinerary Thursday 4/10/14 6:00 am Arrive @ school w/luggage & instruments – Deposit in Theater Lobby (Buses #1 and 2) or Music Room (Bus #3 and 4) Report to your chaperone, wait with your luggage for further instructions 6:30 am breakfast snack/load buses 7:00 am buses depart Lunch stop on way to UC Irvine 2:30 pm arrive UC Irvine 3:00 – 5:30 pm Clinics/Campus Tours

Parent Responsibility Thank you for your support to this point!! Ensure students are packed Ensure students have cash for “Sail & Sign” card and meals not covered. Reinforce conduct guidelines

Student Responsibility Pack according to the packing list Exhibit exemplary conduct on trip Abide by ship & school rules/dress code Follow chaperone directions Participate in UC Irvine and CSU Long Beach workshops and tours Attend cruise performances Assist when asked to do so to the best of your ability Carry instruments on board and off ship

Chaperone Responsibility Supervise up to 8 students Hold students’ passports Assist 4/10-4/14, 2014 Mr. DaBaldo, Mr. Smart, trip coordinators and other chaperones (i.e., music clinics, performance set-up/take down, movements). Ensure students have completed Carnival Check-in No consumption of alcoholic beverages while on tour

Cruise Related Comments Food: no kosher meals available special diet: 4 weeks prior to set sail Instrument Storage: lockable room for medium/large instruments Clothing: casual attire during day. Evening dinning attire: No shorts, T-shirts, jeans permitted in dining rooms. Slacks/khakis and collared shirts for boys Pants, skirts or dresses for girls Buddy System Curfew 11:00pm Participants 187 students 25 chaperones, including Mrs. Gleaton 2 teachers 2 parent clinicians 4 bus drivers

Cruise Related Comments Luggage constraints: 1 suit case & 1 carry-on, cabin space limited Carnival luggage tags provided All bags and equipment must have Carnival luggage tags, marked with cabin number. Keep travel documents with you, not in luggage.

Cruise Related Comments Emergency Telephone Number 1-877-225-7447 Must know ship name (Inspiration), departure date (4/11) Approx. cost $25-30 for first minute, $8-10 for each additional minute. Only use in event of emergency Rates are same for calling ship to shore Calling cards may NOT be used on board Cell phones will not work on the cruise Cell calls from Mexico will be very expensive

Cruise Related Comments Sail & Sign Card details: No cash is accepted for purchases The shipboard credit program (Sail & Sign) requires a minimum of $50.00 cash deposit or a credit card. Credit cards accepted (Discover, VISA or MasterCard) must be in students name and are presented at check-in. No American Express cards or travelers checks accepted

Cruise Related Comments Spending Money Needed for souvenirs and any beverages not included. Iced tea, water, milk, coffee/tea are included. Soft drinks are $2.75 per 20 oz. bottle + gratuity or you may purchase…… “Bottomless Bubble” card details: Under 18 yrs. old = $14.51 (includes tax) Over 18 yrs. old = $19.35 (includes tax)

Cell Phones Use During the Cruise Our advice is for students to turn off their cell phones when we leave port in Long Beach and put them in the safe in their cabin until we arrive back in Long Beach on Monday morning. Students who wish to use their phones during the cruise do so at their own risk and expense. Parents should check with the Carnival website and their cell phone carrier for information about cell phone use on board the ship.

Ship Rules No noise in cabin areas after 11 pm No congregating, eating, drinking or running in hallways No abusive or offensive language Headphones must be used with radios on deck Abuse or theft of physical property will not be tolerated No drinking of alcoholic beverages for those under 21 Purchase, possession and consumption of illegal drugs will not be tolerated Note: Violation of ship rules will result in either: Student tethered to chaperone or Student will be removed from the ship to make his/her own way home, accomplanied by a chaparone, at his/her families expense.
