1 Our World War II Hero Elizabeth Choy

2 Elizabeth Choy’s contributions Elizabeth Choy gave food and medicines to the prisoners during World War Two. She gave information to the British that led to sinking of seven Japanese ships.

3 Although she was in a danger of losing her life, she still refused to confess that she had given information to the British which led to the sinking of Japanese ships.

4 About Elizabeth Choy After she was being captured, she spent 193 days at the old YMCA building. Japanese tortured her and even gave her an ‘electric treatment’. Her selflessness made everyone admire her. She was awarded the Order of The British Empire in 1946 for her bravery. She was born in Kudat Sabah on 29 November 1910. She passed away at the age of 96 in 2006 because of pancreatic cancer.

5 What we did in order to remember her… It was the first time of St. Andrew’s 150-year history, a wake was allowed to be held on the Cathedral premises. People created books of her heroine acts.

6 What we did in order to remember her… Cathedral made an exception considering her contributions to the school, society and country. She was remembered in the Changi Museum as a war heroine and a friend.
