Manga could be interpreted as the Japanese take on American comics, which is partly true, however, there are Japanese comical drawings that date back hundreds of years that have some of the same styles as modern manga. Modern manga has borrowed from both American and the older Japanese styles, making it arguably the best of two worlds. Manga is also much more broad than comics, having topics ranging from sci-fi to rugby. Another key difference between manga and comics one might notice is that you read manga backwards, this is because manga is originally printed backwards in Japan and if the manga is flipped around it would mess up page formatting, among other things. Manga is generally printed in black and white, making it much easier and cheaper to produce. In mangas the plot is usually much more deep than, “villain wants to take over the world, the hero wants to stop it, the hero stops the villain and saves the world,” in mangas the plot could go, “villain and hero are siblings, they’ve had a rivalry since they were two years old, the villain wants to take over the world to prove he’s better than his brother (the hero), hero kills villain and takes over the world instead.”

I cannot make the decision of which is better as it would be biased towards manga, which I really like compared to comics. I leave the decision of which one is better to you. The End (finally)
