PURPOSE STUDENTS WILL EVALUATE THE JACKSON PRESIDENCY TO EXAMINE HIS ROLE AS A, ‘MAN FOR THE PEOPLE’. STUDENTS WILL CREATE A SLIDE SHOW ON PRESIDENT JACKSON.

INTRODUCTION Imagine that we were going to choose a person to be the leader of our class. What qualities do you think you would look for in that person? You have one minute to think quietly about the answer. Now share with the person next to you and write down the three best qualities.

DISCUSSION These are the qualities we would like to see in a leader for our classroom. What about the leader for our country? Which of these would apply to him or her? Let us check them off on our list.

PROCEDURE We are now going to examine the presidency of one of our past leaders - President Andrew Jackson

AT the end of this unit each Of you will turn in the following : 1. Two worksheets with answers completed. 2. A cause and effect graphic organizer. 3. A slide show created using Power Point. 5. An essay 6. All discussion answer questions.
