The Lost Hero By rick Riordan Ryan Klise
2
Setting Present day Camp Half-blood in New York (along with many other visited places) A time of confusion and distress The Wolf House( main battle setting)

Jason, son of Jupiter himself Jason is a strong teenager with blonde hair, but he is no ordinary teen. He is in fact the son of the roman god Jupiter(Zues’s Roman aspect) Jason is a demi god which means he has some of Jupiter’s power including the ability to fly and control lightning. Jason is a very respectful and smart teenager as well. He is extremely loyal to his friends even when he doesn't remember who they are which is very rare in people his age.

Piper, daughter of Aphrodite Piper is supposedly Jason’s girlfriend, or so it seems at the beginning of the book until we find out they never were dating. As a daughter of the goddess of love, Aphrodite, Piper is naturally extremely Beautiful. But at first she doesn’t want to except who she is because she is under the impression that being a daughter of Aphrodite dooms her to a life of breaking hearts till she realizes the power of Aphrodite goes much further than just being able to break guy’s hearts. Thus, unlocking her hidden potential. Piper is a very smart, cunning and kind person which is an unusual combination for humans. The most important person in her life however is her movie star dad who she always tried to gain the attention of before she knew who her mother was by getting in trouble at school and stealing things constantly, not because she was a bad person, Piper was just desperate for attention from someone who never seems to have time for her.

Leo, son of Hephaestus Leo is a very original character to have in a book, as the son of the god of fire and forging… he has a lot of power to unlock. In a way, Leo becomes one of the most important characters in the book because he is the source of transportation to the roman camp. Leo is a very kind hearted person which is very surprising considering what he's been through in his short life. Leo has always though of himself as a bad luck charm practically when in fact he is a very worthy teammate to the Greek army of demigods.

Conflict The main conflict of this book, The Lost Hero is that the sinister earth goddess Gaia is rising slowly from a long sleep after been destroyed by the Greek gods and seeks revenge on them. So she sends her minions, huge Cyclopes that were each specifically designed to take each of the gods/goddesses place and these giants can only bee defeated by the combined powers of the gods and demigods.. One without the other cannot beat them. There is more to the conflict however than just ancient wars.. The main character Jason has had his brain completely cleared temporarily so he doesn’t know who he is and it takes the entire book to find out he is in fact a Roman demigod of the god Jupiter, not a Greek demigod at all. This was done by the Greek goddess of family and marriage, Hera. Her master plan is to bring the Greek and Roman camps of demigods together because they need to be a unity in order for the gods to win this upcoming war. Along the way both Leo and Piper( Jason's two best friends in the book) truly find out there place in life and Piper realizes that her dad has always paid attention to her and loves her as much as she loves him. Leo finds the “possessed” bronze dragon in the forests of camp half blood and is able to tame it and befriend it until, in a tragic accident the dragon is killed and Leo ends up using the dragons remains to make the flying ship that the Greeks will take to the Roman camp. Also Leo finds out the true story behind his life.

What I learned In this book, The Lost Hero, the theme I recognized is to never doubt your self and keep going because with faith anything can happen. Including you being able to save the entire world from the goddess of earth that has evil intentions. Or even just to be able to finish a hard assignment in school. This life lesson is a very important one to succeed In life which is why I love this book so much.

You could find yourself spending hours at a time just reading this book. I would definitely vote this book as one of my favorites
