3. Course Objectives: To examine academic and professional communication for EFL graduate students. To identify strategies to improve our communication on an academic and professional level.

4. Introducing the Course This course consists of three main parts. (1) Academic writing working towards a research paper. (2) Oral communication on a professional level working towards a presentation and participation in discussion and seminar. (3) Classroom communication if time permits.

5. Course Materials Course Textbook: Academic Writing for Graduate Students Second Edition By John M. Swales and Christine B. Feak This textbook will be a very valuable resource as you embark on a career as an EFL professional. Other course materials will be supplied by the instructor.

6. Assessments A midterm based on content material covered in this course especially the material covered in the textbook. (20%) A presentation in English. (20%) Participation in discussions. (20%) A fake research paper written in an appropriate academic register complete with citations. (30%) Attendance. (10%)
