Purpose of Brochure Informs, educates, promotes, and sells Establishes and reinforces organization’s identity and image

Content Content should include: –Topic, product, service, or company –How the reader will benefit –What action audience should take –Easy way for readers to respond Fill-in form or postcard

Brochure Page Layout Folds –Letter fold or tri-fold (most common) –Parallel and right angle folds Panels are sections in brochures Create a mockup “dummy” –Helps visualize placement of text, margins, white space, design elements

Methods for Creating Panels Newspaper columns—rarely used Text boxes—most common Tables 2-pages per sheet feature— used in single-fold brochures used in single-fold brochures

Creating a Booklet File, Page Setup Select portrait or landscape orientation Select Book fold List number of pages in booklet (or auto) Print on both sides (duplex printer)

Formatting with Styles Style - Set of defined formatting instructions saved with a specific name –Use the formatting over and over –Reinforces consistency

Using Headers and Footers Header- Text or graphics that appear at top of every page Footer- Text or graphics that appears at bottom of every page Page numbers

Using Drop Caps First letter of first word in paragraph formatted in larger font size Use sparingly
