Fortunately, many advisors have created effective recruitment models and are willing to share their expertise. Join us as we discuss proven strategies, resources and tips that have lead to increase involvement amongst students, faculty and external employer partnerships. How We Will Get This Done Objective Strengthening chapter membership, increasing faculty support and recruiting local judges are all priorities when managing local chapters. Each population presents unique challenges from local advisors. 1 2 2

Where do the students come from? Make sure ALL teachers promote in their classes. Business Teachers E a lower grade. Each student recruits a younger member to join! Current Business Students 33 Be present at all events! School Events All students must be enrolled in a CTE course. 2 1

Subliminal Recruiting CTSO’s are expanding and some of the events are not being taught in the business department. Find out what other classes your students are taking and allow the other teachers to help. Teachers will view these as lesson plans/activities and appreciate the help. Other TeachersBusiness Teachers t Increase your AP Courses and make sure guidance is aware of your articulation credits, and all other “sellers” in your department to increase your student population. Guidance Give teachers the information available for CTSO’s especially the competitive events. Allow them to use them as assignments. 33 2 1

Know Your Administration! What makes your principal happy? –If they like trips, invite them to the conference –If they like awards, showcase everything! 10 th place in the state is more than no medal Make sure your principal knows everything that you are doing and that it is an application of classroom content. People will feed off your energy!

Judges and Business Professionals School Partners Partnerships are ”big” right now. If your school has partners, ask them to be judges regardless of their specialties. If a person. Local Businesses National partners Parents Teachers Children Graduates

Have meetings! Use national websites Field trips! Attend the conferences Allow the students to run the organization, THEY CAN DO IT. Enjoy your students and make sure they enjoy being in the CTSO. Communicate electronically with students You have the interest, now what?

WHAT WORKS FOR YOU? I always communicate electronically with my students, it has helped tremendously with forms, etc. Be honest, if you don’t know or missed a deadline inform the students. They will help next time. Recruiting? Retention?
