From this picture most people would assume that Zimbabwe might have a rich and beautiful wildlife.  Which at one point in time was true but due to poverty, population growth and lack of fuel have led to extensive deforestation, which, along with poaching, has reduced the wildlife considerably. Deforestation and woodland degradation are a major concern and have led to erosion and land degradation which diminish the amount of fertile soil. Despite all this, Zimbabwe's climate, along with Malta's, has been ranked highly on the index for the best climate to live in by some prestigious organisations.

 Seeing these rural areas was very important and special to me. Because this was where my father grew up and where my grandparents lived.  But it was sad to see how bad the living standards were there. Growing up in Canada we as a nation have been really spoiled by all the little things we take for granted. Like indoor pluming, electricity, and near by health.

 I know it must be hard to believe that the picture before this slide is not a river. But actually a picture of a flooded road in the rural areas.  Most roads in rural areas are gravel (dirt roads) and during the rainy season, they are washed away.  Even the roads in the city were in very poor conditions. In some cases the roads had more pot holes then concrete. Due to the horrible economic state of Zimbabwe city's cant afford to do anything about it.

 A major problem facing Zimbabwe is its increasing crime rate. Which was very difficult for me to understand I was especially confused on this issue, when I went on my first ride around the city. I was fast to notice that all the high end houses were surrounded by tall fences with barbed wire and or electric fencing on top.  A popular crime committed in Zimbabwe is the "smash and grab," in which thieves break the windows of cars stopped at intersections and take items from inside the car. Zimbabwean criminals also use ploys to lure drivers out of their cars

 I was surprised to see that when I was entering Zimbabwe. And I went to exchange the Canadian currency to Zimbabwean currency. We were given U.S dollar bills due to the fact that its currency was in such bad shape there bills have become worthless. So as it stands right now Zimbabwean does not have its own national currency.

 Zimbabwe is a semi presidential republic, President Robert Mugabe and political party has been the dominant political party in Zimbabwe since independence.  Due to the claims of widespread vote-rigging and intimidation by Mugabe's political party. To stay in power the has been no doubt in the world that Zimbabwe is a nation run by a corrupt government.  Not only is it accused of vote rigging it has also been accused of, There abuses of media rights and access. The Zimbabwean government suppresses freedom of the press and freedom of speech. It has also been repeatedly accused of using the public broadcaster, the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation, as a propaganda tool.
