1 SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE OF YOUNG RESEARCHERS, MARCH 31, 2011

2 KSMA has a long history of international meetings. 88 international conferences, seminars and master classes have been held at KSMA since 1995

3 An annual scientific conference for young researchers was held at KSMA on the 31 st of March 2011.

4 17 reports were made in foreign languages. Over 40 young researchers took an active part in the session in foreign languages.

5 The meeting was chaired by Associate Professor Tatyana B. Agalakova, Head of the Department of Foreign Languages.

6 Professor Sergey A. Dvoryansky declared the meeting open. He made a brief report on the importance of foreign language – speaking meetings. Professor Dvoryansky, a great lover of foreign languages, spoke in German.

7 From Professor Dvoryansky’s brief report Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, I am very glad to see and greet young researchers at the meeting where English and German are working languages. I do hope such meetings will be a good traditions and will be held annually. I hope you’ll be a great success. 8 Yekaterina Kontakova, M.D., a third-year research postgraduate, made a very interesting report on prediction criteria of severe tick-born encephalitis. Ye. Kontyakova won the first prize at the Moscow conference of young researchers in March, 2011.

9 Olga Elsokova, M.D., PhD, reported on the cardiovascular system in females with type 2 diabetic nephropathy and hypertension.

10 Elena Leushina, M.D., a first-year research postgraduate of the Internal Medicine Department, discussed evaluation and estimation of life quality in patients with osteoarthritis.

11 M arina Plyasunova, M.D., a first-year research postgraduate of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, delivered an interesting report on social and biological characteristics of women facing habitual miscarriages.

12 Anton Gorshkov, a first-year postgraduate of the Medical Biology and Genetics Department, reported on human chorionic gonadotropin that suppresses throat carcinomas.

13 Nadezhda Kuligina, a young ophthalmosurgeon, spoke on effective treatment of age related macular degeneration

14 Yekaterina Rossikhina, a second-year research postgraduate of the Microbiology Department, discussed adhesive activity of lactobacilli.

15 Konstantin Kolotov, M.D., PhD, an Assistant Professor of Anatomy, analyzed influence of histological forms of cerebral glioma on patients’ survival after combined treatments.

16 M.N. Maryinskaya, M.D., a first-year research postgraduate of the Neurology Department, made a substantial review of brain circulation in outpatient practice.

17 O. Osatskaya, a first-year research postgraduate of the Gynecology and Obstetrics Department, made a report on effective treatment for bacterial vaginosis.

18 Yekaterina V. Pavlova, a first-year research postgraduate of the Food Expertise Faculty, delivered a report on water used by the population of Kirov.

19 Ch. Solomina, a sixth-year student of the Pediatrics Faculty, made a report on nutrition of pre-mature infants. She demonstrated a perfect command of English

20 M. Baturov, a sixth-year student of the Pediatrics Faculty, delivered a report on diagnosis and treatment of congenital diaphragmatic hernia in children.

21 All the participants of the meeting took an active part in the discussion. Over 50 questions were asked.
