KAnglin2007 The following slides contain items that can be considered a “game mechanic,” but think very carefully about how each mechanic will be connected to your objective, or what the students will learn in this game. These are just examples – you may change whatever you would like to change and I can help you with this.

KAnglin2007 Use the Teacher’s chair (responsibly) for a day! Take a class game or small puzzle home for ONE night. Move your desk to a chosen location for the day. Use the Teacher’s table or desk for the day. Do only 1/2 of an assignment: (teacher approval required) You may be first in line for the day. You may bring a stuffed animal to school tomorrow. Put your animal on or near your desk. You may spend 10 minutes looking at the picture viewer. You may be first to check out the recess equipment for the day. You may use the earphones at the computer to listen to music. (10 minutes) You may keep your backpack at your desk area for the day. During silent sustained reading you may read under your desk.

KAnglin2007 During recess or lunch, take a plastic bag and pick up trash. You must go to the end of the line when we line up for lunch. Take a spelling list and write your words on the whiteboard. Collect a pencil from each student. Sharpen those pencils. Take a wipe and clean the teacher’s desk or table area. Empty the trash cans before lunch and at the end of the day. Clean the classroom floor. Pick up scraps and trash. Take a wipe and clean all of the student desks. Clean the classroom library. Organize the books. Write 5 grade level math problems on the whiteboard. Solve. Sing a song in front of the class. Take a wipe. Wring it out. Clean all of the computer mice.

KAnglin2007 The next three slides contain sample mechanics from my original board game. You may keep these, however, if you would like an additional challenge, and bonus points, you can change the boxes to whatever you would like to change them to.
